We had heard so much about Cape Cod and we really wanted to explore the New England region while Peter is in Boston for school.
However, I think we missed the memo on when to go to Cape Cod and when NOT to go...dead of winter is not the best time, unless you hate crowds and want to be one of twenty people visiting that weekend LOL
Anyhow, we still had a good time exploring the Cape Cod/surrounding areas, though sadly, most of the restaurants we had read about were closed for the season :(
Our room at the Chatham Bars Inn--it really was quite relaxing, I'm just not the relaxing type...well, I find it hard to sit still and do nothing for a long time!
Some books in the bookcase in our room...
Peter super happy to be on the plush yet firm and comfy bed...the Frette bedding was an added touch :)
One of Peter's happiest purchases during Winter 2010 in Boston...Neil Barrett x Palladium Taupe Suede MIlitary Boots!
Outside exploring the town of Chatham, found a tree with this heart wreath...not sure why it was there but it looked cute :)
Me--Chanel Coco Cocoon Down Puffer Jacket with Hood (love this piece to death, so easy to wear and comfortable...matches the Chanel Coco Cocoon line handbags they released a few seasons ago too!)
Thanks to our reliable Chowhounders...we dined at the Impudent Oyster in Chatham
Peter and I have never been raw oyster fans at all (I was actually allergic to oysters...and boysenberry--yes, from Knotts Berry Farm, as a child, but I guess that was just a childhood allergy!), but when we moved to Boston for the 2 years, we thought we should give raw oysters another shot or two since it's one of THE things to have here!
We were not disappointed at the Impudent Oyster!
Impudent Oyster's Clam Chowder--doesn't look like much here but it was delicious!
Lobster Roll--Peter was in heaven eating this, the chips were even fresh and crunchy and tasty....not old and soggy like it has been at other places when served with an entree.
Peter also ordered this Fried Scallop Sandwich--not sure what else was in there, I think cheese and seasoning but I think there was a bit too much breading, so you couldn't taste the scallops as well.
Parmesan Truffle Fries--super tasty, though I don't think I've ever had fries like this with "too much" truffles...
Back exploring the Chatham Bars Inn property...
I found a little baby furniture set!!
Peter trying to scope out the rest of the town :)
PZ--Thom Browne for Moncler Gamme Bleu Black Down Coat (not sure what we'll do with this when we're back in LA though I'm sure Peter will still find ways to wear it, like when it's 50 degrees in LA...that's considered "cold" right?)
Me--Gucci Knit Grey/Black Beanie Hat, Chanel Coco Cocoon Down Puffer Jacket, Chanel Grey Cashmere Sweater Dress, Christian Dior New Lock Medium Flap in Black
While driving up to Provincetown, (which came highly recommended by one of the Chatham Bars Inn hotel concierge people...) we saw this sign and I insisted that Peter pull in and check it out...
Wow, a drive-in theater!!! I still remember going to these with my Dad when I was little and me falling asleep in the backseat...
Sadly, it was all but empty, save for the poles and screens that remind you that a "drive-in theater" was once here...I wonder why these things died?
Arriving in Provincetown, Peter and I were completely thrown as to why the Chatham Bars Inn hotel concierge told us to visit this place...it was about a 45 min drive each way, and there was really nothing for us to do there!!???
I did see this ginormous Pink Elephant inside the Marc by Marc Jacobs boutique there, not sure the significance of this but thought it was pretty cute...
After almost freezing to death walking around Provincetown and still completely unsure what we were doing there, we decided to find refuge inside the Purple Feather Cafe and Treatery.
Unfortunately, this Red Velvet Cupcake looked wayyy better than it actually tasted...if memory serves me well, I think I only managed to eat half of this hard/dry cupcake...so sad...I miss Susie's Cupcakes back home in L.A.!!
When we finally got back to our room, Peter had picked up a Dairy Queen Blizzard, and for some reason, was extra excited about it??? LOL
The next day, before our departure, we dined at the Chatham Squire Inn in Chatham...
This lobster roll was definitely NOT as yummy as the one from the Impudent Oyster...I'm sure you can tell even from the two photos...
Lobster Bisque--this was actually okay, usually its pretty hard to mess up soups though, right? Even IHOP and Dennys have decent soups...
Fish & Chips--ehhh too much breading and the fish tasted like tilapia Peter said...he says that about any fish he does not like or finds too "fishy" tasting =(
Well, if all else fails, we can eat the free crackers we got with the soup, right? LOL
Me--Van Cleef & Arpels Lotus earrings, VCA Vintage Alhambra MOP and Onyx with YG bracelets, Roberto Coin 18K WG Diamond Mini Heart stud earrings, Current Elliot Striped Button Down Denim Shirt
Disappointing lunch at Chatham Squire, but the weekend was still fun and I think Peter and I saw enough of Cape Cod to last us our life time haha...
